I is made in African teak and Corian, has a low-wide seat and a single wide armrest with place for a glass of hot chocolate or whisky according to you linkings. Do not expect us to put chair with seats in Corian into production, this is an exhibition only chair, but the Corian is fantastic for this use as it is a perfect contrast to the wood (see pictures), and bring references to the paint used in american Windsors.

Thanks goes to De Stalis Scale (http://www.destalisscale.com/) in Tolmezzo, Italy, for making this possible. Without the expertice of two generations of cabinet makers working day and night we had never made it, and also to Mr. Codutti for his expertice working with Corian (http://www.altacucina.net/)

Snow Flakes is our first furniture sub-tagged “Windsor department”, this is a group of architects and designers with a special interest in Windsor chairs, we discuss the history of the Windsors and how to keep it alive, hold exhibition showing the outcome and hold talkshows with open discussions for those who wish to partisipate, se more (currently only in Japanese at windsordepartment.com).

DC10 is an evolution in our works on contemporary furniture with references to both of furniture craftsmanship in a historical sense and modern production with all the possibilities this gives. This chair is either shell nor skeleton it looks like a stick structure but has only two surfaces, one outside and one inside meeting in a very sharp edge. As it has almost become our trademark the sculpturing of surfaces does not stop anywhere so letting your hands wander by the curves in the wood there is continuous shapes to be explored everywhere. We trust this chair to be a milestone in our furniture design and are curios to see how it will be received.

The world of furniture is evolving daily. Furniture making today has to create things that are only possible today. Frankly speaking, we’re no longer interested in furniture that can be made using the technology from the 1950s. There are of course many things we can learn from the Scandinavian furniture of the 1950s and the Shaker Furniture that preceded it, and their appeal will certainly never die. We’re interested in the process of doing further research that is built on top of what has already been done, just as in scientific research.

The new chair WAFT from Arti, for example, closes in on an ultimate 3D form through an elaborate prefabrication process in which a certain degree of form and cuts are made before placing the single molded plywood (bending any part of the surface in only 2 dimensions, but resulting in a combined 3 dimensional surface) into the mold. We completed the chair in a development process that took over two years involving such initiatives as combining the plywood with a new mesh material containing natural materials. It’s not merely an industrial product that gives consideration to streamlined production, but the most modern, progressive furniture that we could conceive combining a refinement realized thanks to a little extra effort and manual work and sense of luxury that exudes from such work.
