MOMO BENCH

bench momobench, designed by Inoda+Sveje

Momo actually means peach in Japanese, but is also used as a character’s name in children books. We chose the name for the bench after a decision to give our products names that are normally used for individuals (mostly animals and fiction names). We want our users to have a closer relationship with their furniture this way. The strongest point in the bench’s design is the harmony and simplicity it shows, it is shaped but not ornamented. We think the two materials merge together as a result of their interacting shapes, the result is neither a frame with a seat or a seat with legs but two merged materials creating a bench as a result of their shapes, sharpness, lightness and movement.
